A number of well-meaning individuals have come together in the last few months to discuss the creation of a Ghana Society for Development Dialogue. The main purpose of the Society is to create an independent platform for well-researched discussion and debate of various issues of development in Ghana and elsewhere. Indeed the broad goal is to help shape broader debates on important societal issues, supporting the principles of liberal democracy on a non-partisan basis. Such discussion will cover the economy, society, politics, culture, science and technology, and other relevant themes that may be identified from time to time.
The main instrument for articulating discussions by the Society is a journal that will be issued fortnightly under the name of “New Legon Observer”.
The journal will have the essential characteristics of the “Legon Observer”, owned and published by the Legon Society on National Affairs from 1966 to 1983. The “New Legon Observer” is owned by the Ghana Society for Development Dialogue and will be printed and distributed by Graphic Communications Ltd.
The “New Legon Observer” was launched on THURSDAY, 29 NOVEMBER 2007 at the COCONUT GROVE REGENCY HOTEL AT 5.30 PM.
Venue: The British Council Hall Date: 29th November 2007 Time: 5:30pm
